So good, highly recommend the clam chowder but all soup there is great. Such a wonderful hidden gem in Leavenworth. Brat is great too. Anything is good, though seating tables are small, worth the squeeze and service is wonderful. Half table service half serve yourself (pretty much for the soup and salads).Must go! Very affordable too! Authentic brats. Skip the bread bowl, unless you REALLY want the carbs. You'll have to wait for the main entrees to get that bowl when everyone else with just soup gets served their bowl immediately.
If I could give this place a zero, I would. I couldn’t get past the smell of the food and tried to return it and was told only exchanges. Make sure you like this gross food before you pay.
Loved this place! Food was not overly priced and it's a cool atmosphere.. leave your mark on the wall or ceiling with a personalized dollar bill.. so cool..
I did not expect what i found here, truely a gem of leavenworth wa! They have a tradion of putting dollars on the walls and coloring them and when theyre removed they donate them to charities :) i love it! They are also vegeterian friendly and carry draft beers from the local brewerys. Overall a great place and i would definately recommend it if youre looking for a new experience.
Super disappointed. Was hoping for some good German food but son wanted a burger. Thought this would be a bit of both. The sauerkraut was disgusting and my bratwurst was basically a greasy hotdog sliced in the top with some cheese. Our bill for three people was $52 with only one soda and no alcohol. My husband wouldn’t even eat his. Definitely wish we tried somewhere else.
The food is absolutely delicious, and the service was great! Definitely going to visit again.
Terrible experience, food was expensive, poor quality and small portions. The host was rude and made us stand while we waited for over 20 mins to be seated. Would of preferred McDonalds anyday over this nasty, run down, old place.
I used to absolutely love the soup cellar but after the change in owners the food is over priced, smaller in servings and over all not the best quality. 7 dollars for a pretty small container of soup... You could go to safeway and get something four times the size for less than half the price.
Alway good food!
I wanted so badly to like this place, but I just couldn't. The only reason I left a 2 star instead of 1 star review is because the staff was nice, my son really liked his BBQ burger and the salad bar had a good selection that was fresh. Otherwise, the soups were awful, the pea soup was bland and tasted burnt and the creamy broccoli soup was bland at best. The grilled cheese was mediocre as well as the fries. Location was convenient but the atmosphere was outdated and dingy. And are they serious about their prices?? WAY overpriced for mediocre to bad lunch food. Wouldn't go back. EVER.
Very bland food that us very expensive.
This place had some great food. One was this white chili served in a sour dough bowl. It was out of this world. Prices were very reasonable.
Food was alright but on shift manager (short, heavier white woman with matching brown hair) literally stopped us from leaving to pay for a drink our server explicitly told us was on the house. When we asked what was going on one of the cooks came out to yell at us while the waitress that “bought” my SO a drink for his bday milled about not saying a single thing... not sure if this was a race thing, a gay thing, or just a trio of rampant ignorance. Head around the corner to the Post Office Saloon for a much better time.
I have been coming to the Soup Cellar since I was a little boy and now I take my little boy. Fun family atmosphere with great staff and food.
Ownership changed. Selection poor, prices high, quality and taste low. Used to be our preferred place for lunch. Went for lunch now, got a variety of dishes for a big group, were surprised by greater prices and smaller portions. Most of the party had upset stomachs by the end of the day. This is not the place it used to be. Do not recommend.
Good food friendly staff and atmosphere.
The worst service I have ever experienced out of any restaurant. The waitresses were beyond disrespectful. This resultant is a joke. Disgusting food. Disgusting service. Do not recommend, not to mention nobody was in the restaurant during busy hours. Don’t go if you don’t want food poising
Very pricey for the quality of the food. Ordered a chili dog but in the menus it says "smothered in our whiskey steak chili" But unfortunately it's just canned chili. Went back to use the restroom and while I was waiting I could see in the storage area and see the huge cans of it. Then my fiance ordered the Cheesy Cheese Burger the description of it say "a generous amount of melted tillamook cheddar" It was a very thin slice that wasnt even melted. We expected what the menu said and was very disappointed in what we got.
Great cartel dining. We ordered the sausage sampler. Fabulous! Friendly staff, clean place. Great selection of beer. Prices are reasonable. We would go again if in the area. Funky tradition of people writing on dollar bills and taping them on the wall. Apparently they get so many they have to take then shown every six months or so. Proceeds are donated to charity.
The pricing is extremely high for what you get and the service you receive is nowhere near as good as what you would receive at any other restaurant that charges as much as they do. It was a hot summer day today and they don’t even put ice in your water. They give you a small plastic cup with luke warm water and if you ask for ice all you get is an eye roll. Not once during our meal did our waitress come to see how we were doing. We left extremely disappointed because this place use to be really good. We probably would have gotten service that was six times better at McDonald’s down the road for only a third of the price.
Food was great, especially the whiskey steak chili. Friendly service and affordable pricing.
It was a fun place to eat but really disappointed in the quality and taste of the food. The soup tasted like it was out of a can. Nothing tasted like fresh ingredients. The best part of this place though, is the sourdough bread bowls.
Not bad for what you get. Nice and cool. Foods good at a decent price. Service was quick too
Very good food, service was great and reasonably priced.
Give me the SOUP! Great Chili in a Bread Bowl. (you may realize by now, I know chili) Big pieces of steak in their chili with a great taste. A little mild, but really good all around. Don't forget to honor your home town with a Dollar bill on wall! They provide the sharpee
This place was amazing!!! Went during octoberfest and had the all you can eat prime rib.... Cooked perfectly!!! Beer was good, sandwiches where good and service was amazing. Will definitely be back!!!
A tad overpriced, which was okay considering the location. What wasn't okay, however, was the wait staff's attitude. I've never in my life had somebody put blame on me for forgetting to do their own job, or had eyes rolled at me for asking for a condiment. Couldn't get of there fast enough, and unfortunately couldn't take back my tip since you pay up front.
This place was a really cool to try Bavarian cuisine. I tried the bratwurst plate. It smelled so good that I didn't get a picture of it before I started to enjoy it. The dinner roll was very delicious and so were the bratwursts, lettuce, and beets. It also has sauerkraut, which I enjoyed to a certain extent, along with the potato salad.
This place was gross. The soups taste like they come from a can and after complaining about it and only taking one bite they still charged me for it. Was over priced for what you get as well. New ownership definitely fails.
Delicious German food. Cute little shop.
Way overpriced, food wasn't very good, and the restaurant wasn't all that clean. Would not recommend when there are several top notch restaurants in town.
Sadly, this place was very disapointing. We went here for the warm german potoato salad.. My husband did not eat it because he was scared he would get sick. The Prim Rib dinner is from the buffet which was not advertised, and was very disapointing. The waitress was very nice however, and allow up to just pay for our drinks that we got. Would not recommend..
Theres plenty of choices, with kids meals, refills, and fairly cheap pricing.
Wow this place was terrible!!!Sauerkraut smelled so bad we had it removed from our table. The Banger was in a hot dog bun, not the fresh roll the menu stated. The waitress told us the food changed recently and is now provided by the same place as the school’s cafeteria!!!! Can’t make that up! Stay away.....very far away!!
Very good food and great service.
What a joke. This place has false advertising. They dont know what they are doing. Food wasnt so great either
Went here on a recommendation of a friend, glad we did! Great food, friendly staff, it was over the 4th of July, and even with the Covid-19 precautions they were professional and we very much enjoyed our visit.
My favorite spot in Leavonworth. I love the vibe, the food and the service. Plus they have a great soup and salad bar.Their burgers and brats are delicious
The best warm German potato salad
I thought this was going to be so much better. We wanted s place that offered soups so my aunt could have some. The food was ok. We hated the hot potato salad. The driver ws nice but really did not check on its at all. The food took a very long time even though there was not that many people in the restaurant. I wanted more. Pense q seria mejor.
Great soups! Affordable prices! Kid friendly! Very clean!!The staff was so friendly!! They even have permanent markers so you can draw on dollar bills to leave your mark. My family and I will be going back!!
Great service and food.
Head down the stairs, place your order, find a seat, and they'll bring it over to you. The steak chili in a breadbowl was absolutely delicious! The breath was warm and very soft and fresh tasting. The brat was just fine, and the potato salad was very good too! Staff was friendly and smiley. They need more tables though. They couldn't clear them off fast enough and different families were sharing. 5 (?) different mustards at each table. Comfortable setting. There's a salad bar too.
Tried to go for lunch. Atmosphere was not up to par with the other restaurant options. Price seemed high for what you got. At least what I saw others get. We waited for over 30 minutes after being told to seat ourselves. No one came to our table. We saw another table get up and complain they had been there for 60 minutes watching other tables getting food. Decided to leave and go somewhere else where we were handled quite well.
Went there for soup and it tasted all like it was out of a can seating was horrible! service was horrible!
Quite the disappointment after having several authentic and quality dining experiences in downtown. Everything seems to be from the frozen section or prepackaged. The charming sign up on the street is not a reflection of the space inside; maybe in another place it would pass as a "local spot," but it doesn't compare with the other great options just a few doors away. The service was mediocre, kraut from a can, my daughter's hamburger was definitely a frozen pattie. I wouldn't come back.
Great food! Awesome Staff
Nice place to grab a warm meal/bite and a drink. Hot spiced wine was great!
I didn’t see them sanitize anything. The waitress didn’t know the menu. My chicken noodle soup tasted like canned soup and was room temperature. The lady who delivered our food had an attitude and basically threw the food on the table. Even my baby didn’t like her vibes. It was also overpriced. $8 for a can of soup that would be $3 otherwise? Next time, I’ll go to Safeway and drink the soup out of the can.
The food here was good, but the format of the restaurant is less than satisfactory. When you arrive, help yourself to a menu and you may sit anywhere. Then go up to the counter to order food. The soups are left out, so if that's what you ordered, you may help yourself, and it's the same with the salad bar. Need a beverage? It's by the soups. Return to your table to realize you need silverware. You will have to grab it from the salad bar. It was disappointing to have to keep getting up to get what I needed. Normally this would not be an issue, but I feel that with the price of the food, even a basic table service would have been appreciated. I had the split pea soup, salad bar, and hot cider, all of which were delicious.
